Grounded Vessel - deep dish
Craggy, cratery, weather-beaten. This ceramic sculpture is crafted from a grainy stoneware clay with recycled glaze 'inclusions' which burst through the surface and form pits, bubbles and craters. Matt turquoise, blue and creamy-white glazes with a touch of pinkypurple may bring to mind stormy seas crashing against layered rock with the merest hint of a calmer sunset on the horizon. The outer surface is glazed in a matt mossy blue, it stands on three little 'feet' and is finished with a bronze pigment to accentuates the torn edges.
PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SCULPTURE NOT A FUNCTIONAL PIECE. DUE TO THE SPECIAL NATURE OF THE GLAZE COMBINATIONS USED IT WILL, BY DESIGN, HAVE ROUGH, PITTED AREAS AND SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH CARE. THIS PIECE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR FOOD USE.

I am offering this piece for sale as part of the 'Artists Support Pledge' - a culture of support and generosity set up by artist Matthew Burrows. During the Covid-19 crisis of 2020 many artists are unable to show/sell work through their usual outlets. Open studios events, fairs and workshops are on hold until it is safe for all involved to recommence them. The pledge is simple, I sell a selection of artworks for £200 or under and tag them #artistsupportpledge on social media. When I reach £1000 in sales I buy another artist's work for £200. This is a wonderful idea and I hope that you will not only support me but also help support other artisans through some difficult times.
